Edale on Film and TV

Home / Edale Village / Edale on Film and TV

Edale’s rugged scenery and historical buildings have been a draw for several TV and film productions in recent years.  Most of the locations are on private homes or private land so please don’t hunt these places down and knock on the door asking for a photo.

Village of the Year – Channel 4 (2017-2018)

Edale was shortlisted for Village of the Year in 2017 and was visited by Patrick Grant late in 2017 for filming.  Several villagers were interviewed and filmed including a mock up of The Great Kinder Beer Barrel Challenge.

Peaky Blinders in EdalePeaky Blinders – BBC (2017)

The Peaky Blinders make a fleeting appearance in Edale at the beginning of series 4 in 2017.  Grindsbrook is the location of one of the brothers’ home where the Changretta henchmen turn up at Christmas time….

You can stay in the grounds of this location at The Gathering, Edale.

Julia Bradbury visits Edale as part of her series and meets some of the local residents on the way.

The Village - BBC in EdaleThe Village – BBC (2012-2014)

The Village was filmed at several locations throughout the Peak District including Hayfield, Glossop, Chapel-en-le-Frith and, of course, Edale.  Many of the more rural scenes including the Middleton’s farm and the railway station were shot in Edale in 2012 and 2014.  An article in The Guardian in 2013 looks more closely at some of the locations.

Charlie Bubbles (1968)

Many of the farmhouse scenes of Charlie Bubbles were filmed in Upper Booth
